Snow, snow, go away...

Come again...next Winter!!! Seriously! Isn't the first day of Spring next week? And we're getting a huge snow storm here of about 2 feet of snow? Ridiculous!!! The hubby didn't go to work today but he works in IT so unfortunately for me, he still has to work because he can do all his work on his laptop. Oh well. At least when 5:00 rolls around, he'll already be home and he can help me by keeping an eye on the kids while I get dinner done! It will be nice to cook dinner in peace!

We've been having a relaxed day in, looking out at the snow. We watched the Curious George Christmas movie earlier just because it has snow in it! Then we watched Snow White! I love getting to rewatch my favorite childhood Disney movies with Big E and Little E! There are so many more that we haven't watched yet!

I've been diffusing summery scents in my diffuser all morning! Lemon, Lime, Stress Away...they all smell lovely and remind me of being at the beach!! I would so much rather be at the beach right now then surrounded by snow. But let's look on the bright side, this should be the last snowfall this winter and hopefully we don't get any more once it's officially spring next week!!!! Here are some pictures of the winter wonderland right outside my house, enjoy!! Have a great day everyone!!

I love the 90s!

I was born in 1990, so I remember a lot of things that were popular in the later half of the 90s. Here are a few of my favorite things...from the 90s. (Yes, I was singing the song from the Sound of Music as I wrote that!)

Backstreet Boys

BSB was where it was at!! I absolutely loved them!! And 2011, when they toured with New Kids on the Block, my childhood dream came true...I got to see them live in concert! It was one of the best concerts I've ever been to! Whenever I hear a Backstreet Boys song, it takes me back to the 90s! I love them and always will!!

Nsync

Yes, I was also an Nsync fan. I couldn't pick just one, I loved both! Sadly, my childhood dream of seeing them live never came true. But I have heard recently that they may be reuniting, we shall see!! Again, when I hear an Nsync song, I kinda feel like I'm in the 90s again!

Dunkaroos

These things were the best snack ever!!! I wish they still sold them! Apparently they are still made in Canada but not the US. I should make a friend that lives in Canada so they can ship me some!! But seriously, these were amazing! I would buy them if they still made them. For my kids, too. But mostly for me!

Giga Pets, Nano's, and Tamagotchi's

So I gotta say, I'm not too sure what the difference between these 3 toys is, maybe just the makers? But at some point, I had at least one of each! And actually, I even found one at a store years after I stopped playing with them and bought it just to relive the excitement! I think the Nano was my favorite, but yet again maybe I don't remember which was my favorite because again, I can't remember the difference between them. All I know is that they were cool and a lot of my friends had them!

Beanie Babies

Now I didn't have quite this many of them, but I had a lot. And I made sure that the tags stayed on! I even had some that had these plastic cases over the tags to protect them!! If you grew up in the 90s, I'm sure you had at least one Beanie Baby! And I loved when McDonalds had them in their Happy Meals as the toys!!!

Gel Pens

Gel pens and the black paper you drew with them on were awesome!! I had a ton and I used them all the time!! I'll definitely have to find some and introduce Big E to them someday!

Hit Clips

I loved these things!! It only played 30 seconds of music but they were still awesome!! And you know what's even more awesome, my mother-in-law actually found a Disney version of Hit Clips and got it for Big E about 2 years ago. I don't even think she knew what it was, but she found it at a thrift store and now Big E loves it because she has seen most of the movies that the songs are from. Here is the Disney one I'm talking about.

I'll end my list there, but it really could go on and on and on!! Oh, I'll add one more, one of my favorite shows that I still love to this day! My hubby needs to have TV on as he drifts off to sleep so we put on a series that we've seen before so that we won't want to watch it instead of sleep. We rotate between two shows: Scrubs and my favorite from the 90s, Friends!!!

What are some of your favorite things from the 90s? Leave me some comments! Have a wonderful day!

I like to move it, move it

So back in November I wrote a post about Zumba. Since then, I've been going to a class twice a week instead of once like I had been doing. I absolutely love it! I'll hear songs on the radio all the time and I'll be like "We did this at Zumba!" Then I see the dance moves in my head! I went to a Zumbathon about a month ago where it was 2 hours of Zumba! It was awesome! And you know what happened during that...I had an epiphany! I was just seeing the different instructors on the stage leading the dances and thought "I could do that!" Now I have absolutely zero dance experience. I can't dance that well! But I really enjoy doing Zumba and think that if I worked hard enough, I could become an instructor.

At the end of the Zumbathon, I talked to the instructor that teaches the class that I go to most often. During one of the breaks I had looked on my phone to see what it takes to become an instructor. But I wanted to talk to an actual instructor to see what it takes. It's pretty much a full day of training and dancing. You pay close to $300 and make it through the day and you're certified! It's that simple!!

I was seriously thinking about going to a training close to me within the next few months, but I've put that on hold for now. I'm just getting into my Young Living business so I don't think I have the time to also throw some Zumba in there. It would be awesome doing both though. They kind of go hand in hand. Zumba keeps me healthy by exercise and Young Living is helping me stay above the wellness line! But for now, I'm just going to focus on Young Living and maybe a year from now I'll come back to the idea of becoming a Zumba instructor. That will also give me another year of going to Zumba classes twice a week (maybe eventually more) and give me lots of practice!

Have you ever been to a Zumba class? If so, what is your favorite song to dance to? Mine is definitely "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" by Will Smith!! Oh, and "Can't Stop the Feeling" by Justin Timberlake!

This is definitely true about Zumba...

Weekend Recap- 3/12/17

The weekend isn't over quite yet but it's winding down. And it has been an awesome weekend so far! Thursday I decided to start potty training with Big E again and I'm so glad I did! We are on day 4 and it's the first day we put underwear on her. A few weeks ago we were at Walmart and she picked out Frozen underwear!! I struggled a little bit this morning to get them on her, but somehow while I was upstairs getting dressed, my hubby managed to get her to put them on! And she hasn't had any accidents so far!! I'm so proud of her and am so happy it finally clicked for her!! I was seriously thinking it was gonna take a lot longer for this to happen!!! This is probably my 4th or 5th attempt at potty training with her so I'm glad I stuck with it this time. This time was a lot easier actually. The other times I had several moments when I wanted to give up and I did end up giving up. This time, I never once thought about giving up. She's just been that good with it this time!!

Last night we met my grandparents for dinner. We definitely need to do that more often. They are getting older and time is precious! I used to go camping with them a lot when I was younger. But once I got married, I started seeing them less and less. And they only live an hour away so it's not like that can be an excuse for not seeing them often. We need to start planning on seeing them once a month! I think that is totally doable!!

Last night when we got home my hubby and I started playing a new video game on our computer. When Big E was 3 months old, my dad and step-mom watched her for the weekend. It was the first time that she was away from us for that long and they were ready to give her back! Anyway, that Sunday, all we had planned was going to lunch and to a movie. So when we got back, I told him to teach me how to play a video game. He has always been into computer games but I was more of a console player. The only game I had played on the computer a lot was the Sims. He taught me how to play Minecraft and I became hooked! We played that for a few weeks before playing another game called ArcheAge that is kind of like World of Warcraft. I was so excited that we finally had another thing to do together! Because before I started playing video games with him, my hubby and I would mostly do our own thing at night. But now, we both sit side by side in our basement at our computers, which each have 2 monitors hooked up to both! It's so nice to be able to play a game on one screen while watching something on Netflix or Hulu on the other. Or in this case, right now I'm writing this post on one screen and watching New Moon on the other! I just looked at the movies available on Freeform.com and the whole Twilight Series is on there!!

After the kiddos wake up from their nap this afternoon, we're going to Walmart to do some grocery shopping. We live in the Northeast and are expecting a pretty big snowstorm Monday night into Tuesday, so I'm pretty sure it's gonna be a madhouse at Walmart! But oh well, we need food and a few other things so we'll just have to suck it up and go today. Plus, it's a whole lot easier going with my husband rather than just me and the kiddos!

Well, I hope everyone has had an awesome weekend! Catch ya later!!!

Hardest part about parenting so far

In my almost 3 years of being a parent, I would have to say that potty training is the hardest thing I've had to do so far! Teething is fine, I'll take that any day over potty training. It's so weird, I had a dream the other night that I was talking to my sister-in-law about how my aunt told me that I need to take away something that Big E likes until she goes in the potty. Well, that one thing she likes the most is Curious George! So in this dream, I told my sister-in-law that I was going to tell Big E that there was no more George till she goes in the potty.

That dream inspired me to try potty training again. The last time I did it, I gave up after 3 days. This is probably the 3rd or 4th time that I've attempted to get her potty trained. I am more determined to get it done this time because I only want to have one in diapers!! So I'm having her go without pants anytime that we are home and she is awake! Yesterday I had underwear on her a couple different times and she kept having accidents in them so that's when I said enough is enough, and decided that we're going without pants.

Last night when I came home from Zumba, the house was extra quiet. That's because my husband had put both kids to bed already! This meant that Little E had gone to sleep without nursing right before. I thought he would wake up before his normal time, but I was wrong! I had to sneak into his room to grab his diffuser, fill it, and put it back in his room and then it on. I thought for sure that he would wake up more than usual if I didn't have his diffuser going. Well, he woke up at 5:40, which is normal for him! I was so amazed!!

Anyway, back to potty training with Big E. So while my husband was putting Little E to bed, he opened the bathroom door and turned on the light and reminded Big E to go potty if she had to. He came back downstairs and there she was, sitting on the potty and she actually went! I also need to add that she was watching a movie and decided all on her own to get up from the couch to sit on the potty! That completely blew my mind!!

So far today she has gone on the potty 3 times, but there were a few hours in the middle of the day that she was in a diaper because of going to a play date and then lunch and nap time. But so far there have been no accidents today, so I'm very proud of her! Things are looking up this time so I just gotta stay consistent! What is the best piece of advice you would give to someone like me who has been struggling with potty training? Leave me a comment and have a great rest of your Friday!

Thankful Thursday

Starting today I'm going to write a post each week with what I'm thankful for.

I am thankful for my husband. I don't know what I would do without him. I'm thankful that he is able to provide for me and my 2 kids so that I can stay home with them. I've said multiple times that I hope I die before he does because I don't know what I'm ever going to do without him. Of course we have plenty of time before that happens though, I just turned 27 this year so I'm not going anywhere anytime soon!!

I am thankful for my kids. I always wanted to be a mother and I couldn't have asked for 2 better kids to be the mother of. Time is precious and since becoming a mother that is so much more true! People have told me that they grow up so fast and in the beginning (especially during the first year), time just seems to be going so slow! But once they get out of the baby stage and start becoming more independent, you look back and think "Where did my baby go?"

I am thankful for my moms club. As I wrote in my post yesterday, I am so glad I found the moms club I'm in because without it I have no idea how I would have made any friends in the area! I'm not the type of person to just randomly start talking to someone at a place like the park. So I'm glad this club has allowed me to meet people who have at least one thing in common: being a mother!

I'm thankful for a lot more things but if I wrote about them all, this post would be way too long! What are some things you are thankful for? Leave me a comment!

She's my person...

So when my husband and I moved to our current home right before Big E was born, we both knew absolutely nobody! My husband was meeting people at work but with me being a substitute teacher, I wasn't able to do that. And it's a lot harder to meet people and make friends when you are an adult! But, thank goodness for moms clubs because if I never found the one I'm in, I would still probably not know anybody in the area.

When we moved I was about 5 months pregnant and was tired of not knowing anyone in the area! So I did something about it. I got on Google and typed in "Moms club" followed by the name of the town I live in. Immediately something came up and I contacted the organizer! I met up with her within the next week and after attending the required 3 events, I was a member! That was about 3 years ago and it's one of the best decisions I've ever made! (The best was obviously when I said "yes" to marrying my husband!) There are always things on the calendar like park playdates, lunch playdates, and (my favorite) moms night out! It's been pretty slow the past few months because of the weather, but since it's starting to warm up, we're getting more events on the calendar!

So if you're a mom, I highly recommend looking for a moms club in your area that you can join! Especially if you are a stay at home mom like me. Without this club, I wouldn't have that much adult interaction. But not only do I get the adult interaction I need, but my children get to socialize as well! I'm skipping preschool for both of my kids because I'm going to do my own little preschool with them since I have a degree in elementary education. So taking them to playdates and letting them play with other kids will be great for them!

It's been a while since I've had a friend in my life that I could consider my best friend but thanks to the moms club, I have a best friend again and I'm pretty sure this one is gonna last a while! She's the one that introduced me to the world of Young Living essential oils and I'm forever grateful that she did! For those of you who have ever watched Grey's Anatomy, she's my person!! Have a great day everyone!
